Current Value Surprises With Liquidy Offering “Leave Behind”

Critical Music has come to be known as one of the most cutting-edge labels in drum & bass since the imprint’s founding by London-based producer Kasra. Now on their 15-year anniversary, they’re set to release a compilation featuring their genre-driving artists, such as Enei, Mefjus, Ivy Lab and Klax.

Our next TOTD is part of the Critical – 15 Years of Underground Sonics album, and it comes from Current Value. “Leave Behind” is a surprisingly chilled-out track, as Current Value is usually known for his heavy, techy neurofunk bangers. This liquid-inspired track is still quite fast, however, with its heavy drums, and reflects the diversity in both CV and Critical’s styles. With regard to this and the other tracks on this anniversary compilation—which also happens to be the label’s 100th release—Kasra had this to say:

“I like to think of us as a label that looks forward, that focuses on what the future holds and on how to make statements without sacrificing our core ideals, to release exciting music centered around the 170-BPM tempo. With this in mind, I wanted the LP to be about where the label is now and where it’s going—a snapshot of the music that represents the Critical sound by core label acts and some choice friends.”
