House music is safe when it’s resting in the hands of dudes like Darius Syrossian. I say this because the Brit’s chief concern is to dish out quality house and techno tunes, and nothing else. His tenacity to keep things locked entirely in on the music can be seen through his always-shakin’ Sankeys residency in Ibiza, an output steeped for dancefloors, and his fast-spreading Our Rhythm radio show, which will soon lend its name to the birth of his own record label. In between all of the busy work, though, Syrossian is about to pull out a chunky club EP for Mile End Records.

Balanced by the melodic mix, the title cut “All Night Long” is ripping at the seams under its main mix incarnation. Standing still is just not an option, as it boasts a fire-under-your-feet groove to make you move with every hit of the kick. With the crispy hats keeping time with the ricocheting basslines and liquid lead, the nights won’t seem long enough when this one’s being rinsed.

Available June 1 via Mile End Records.

Were you impulsive on this track, or did you have a sketch in mind before you started?
I did sketch out an idea. I wanted to make one of those tracks where the vocal hook plays an important part to the groove of the track and is more like a hook than the traditional way vocals are used. The other track, “Conte Is Back,” it was just something that just came out. It’s more like the type of track I would have made for VIVa years ago, when I was on that label. A lot of tribal, percussive elements play a big role in this track, but the kick is tight and heavy. So yeah, a bit of both on the EP.

Do you think advances in computer technology and gear have affected your creativity?
Not really. I use a lot of old-skool hardware to produce still, so I don’t think it has for me. I think the main thing is to get the results you are looking for when producing, no matter what kit you use to produce. As long as you get the sound you want, then that’s all that matters.

How do you measure the success of a track?
You should always produce what YOU FEEL, not anything to fit a certain label or a certain sound or the latest fad; if you do that, you are not being true to yourself. So, I’m not too hung up on trying to gauge how successful it is, really, but obviously if you see loads of other DJs playing it and it charting high or whatever, it’s a bonus. The main thing is making something from the heart and seeing the dancefloor react to it really well. Also, sometimes it’s good when you have just made a new track and play it out for the first time. When you know they don’t know it’s your track, they are reacting positively because they like it; that’s always good.

Have you played this one out in any of your sets? If so, what was the response?
Yes, I have played both tracks on the EP out, and they seem to do the job pretty well. To be honest, I always road-test my productions, and only when they pass the test do I send them off for labels to get signed.

Choose one feeling that sums up this release, and describe it to us.
ENERGY! For sure, with this EP, I wanted both tracks to have a lot of energy to mirror my DJ sets. My sound is all about the locked-down groove and the energy—for both my DJ sets and my productions.
