Deep Matter and Alterior Motive Converge on Refulgent Remix of “I Ain’t Over You”
In my experience, the best way to get through an emotional rough patch involving an ex is by letting the music tend to those open wounds. Connie Mitchell and Angus McDonald have arrived with a record that touches on the sensitive subject matter, as they hoist those sore feelings onto an upbeat flagpole. On “I Ain’t Over You,” the Aussie duo known as Sneaky Sound System put their accessible approach to dance music to work with radiant chords and a heal-all vocal delivery that will slap a lingering grin on its listeners.
Deep Matter and Alterior Motive have also shown up to play, as the two forces work side-by-side to lend the pop-tinged track some underground credibility. “When we heard the original mix, we were blown away by the uplifting summer vibe it had,” say Matter and Motive. “We were instantly inspired to add our own garage-y, club-focused take on it—we really hope you enjoy the results!” Between the jaunty synth phrases, refulgent chord progressions and peppy percussion, it’ll be tough trying to grow tired of the gents’ remix.
