Demarzo’s Sublime “Sweetener” Is a Savory House Groove

Demarzo is one of the UK’s hottest rising stars at the moment. The talented Londoner, born Marcus Wormald, is best known for his stellar live shows and soulful studio work. Over the past few years, his music has been released on various underground labels like Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ Hot Creations, Kittball and VIVa.

His latest three-track EP, Get Right, is a dancefloor weapon that’s handcrafted for a peak-hour set. On “Sweetener,” he combines synth stabs, sublime acid and vocal loops to deliver a savory house groove that’s perfect for the late-night club crowd.

“Like a lot of my music, percussion plays a big part,” Demarzo tells Insomniac. “I wanted to focus a little more on this and create an EP dominated by percussion. For ‘Sweetener,’ I liked the idea of natural drums bringing in the track, so I worked toward that. I love how it turned out, as it sounds great as a starting track and also when mixed in from another. Thanks a lot for the premiere, and I’m glad you’re feeling the music.”
