Dev79 and Sideswipe Take Kindora Straight Into the Jungle With “Love You” Remix
There must be something in the water in Philly, because the city has a long history of cranking out talent. A prime example is Dev79 and Sideswipe’s remix of Kindora’s house crooner “Love You.” While the Chattanooga singer’s original track is a bouncy ‘90s R&B jam, this version hits hard with a barrage of classic jungle sounds.
Though it goes without saying, the first standout here is the ramped-up BPM. It’s definitely not a track that simply drags and drops one music style into the archetype of another. The history of these producers also works its way through the scenes, from an angular point of view to bits of grime, classic future bass, pitched-around vocals, and a hypnotically ADHD flipping of sounds.
All of this goes down while the gritty duo not only maintain the soul and spirit of the original, but also keep things catchier than the common cold. Each listen will unfurl some new detail (the cut-time clap, for instance) and shift the listener to a fresh direction. Dev79 and Sideswipe have a lot going on here, which should please the junglists, fans of Kindora, and everyone else in between. Head over to Dev79’s Bandcamp page to cop the download.
