Free Download: Fernando de Sá Gets Diabolically Dark on Techno Cut “Do You Know”
It took only a few years for Minimal Sessions to outgrow their humble beginnings of hosting low-key parties in the greater Los Angeles area. After taking on a cult following, the next logical step was to expand their business model and work label operations into their wheelhouse. The move has already played in their favor, with the imprint roping a respectable list of artists into rotation (their debut checked off names such as Steve Mulder, RunHag, Brennen Grey, and label cofounders Shmitty and Tyler Rouse).
Fernando de Sá is next in the queue, showing up with three immaculate tracks bundled together as the Interstate EP. “Do You Know”—arguably the release’s highpoint—has been graciously handed over as a freebie today. Hissing hats, eerie arpeggs, rippling synths, and dead-of-night flourishes come together to create a diabolically dark techno cut you are going to want to keep in your back pocket.
“‘Do You Know,’ for me, was a very special creation,” Fernando tells Insomniac, “because I could add a light atmosphere on a serious track, which can be played on any dancefloor of either genres of house and techno—especially ‘cause we see those two styles mix every day.”
