Frankee Grinds One Out for the Roughnecks With “Clap Your Hands”
It’s been a hot second since Frankee last whipped out his genius and gave heads a proper release to get buck to. This week, he’s putting an end to this short hiatus, holding it down on the always on-point RAM Records with a double-barreled weapon made up of two disparate tracks that dutifully demonstrate his knack for changing directions on demand.
The Bassrush fam already put you up on “Love & Peace,” which shows him siding with the softer shades of drum & bass. He doesn’t stop there, however, as he shifts the focus over to the roughneck crew on the other offering. “‘Clap Your Hands’ was written off the back of ‘Drop It Low’,” says Frankee. “After seeing the reaction when I played ‘Drop It Low’ in clubs and festivals, I saw everyone interacting and singing along. I wanted to try and recreate that interaction with a fresh idea.” Freshness spills out from the core of this white-knuckling number, with its attentive drums and squiggly LFOs urging the listener to keep those hands where we can see them. They aren’t going anywhere, either, other than the occasional click of the mouse to keep this hefty stomper rotating.
Available August 26 via RAM Records.
