Mind games have proved to be an area of expertise for Gabriel D’Or & Bordoy, the production duo that have brought Italy and Spain into the same equation. It’s a project where only forward-thinking ideas are given the time of day, which has made them a perfect fit for the equally groundbreaking stable that is Markantonio’s AnalyticTrail. The label regulars are touching the catalog yet again, only this time with three concrete cuts packaged together as part of their Acrylic EP.

None of the featured tracks is more of a headtrip than “Mental Relay,” as it contains all of the necessary ingredients to send discerning dancers spiraling into a sweat-covered daze. Pulsating basslines and a thunderous kick set things into motion, until a moment of silence opens up the space for crisp hats, unsettling stabs, and rippling progressions to seethe every inch of your cerebral cortex. It’s a dark but oddly welcoming place, one that Gabriel D’Or & Bordoy seem to know how to operate within better than the rest.
