Hey Sam Delivers Twisted Electro-Tech Rework of “Put It Down”
Australia’s Sweat It Out! label— the brainchild of the late and great DJ Ajax—has been dropping club bangers for a decade now, delivering a steady mix of indie, electro and house. The label is keeping it strong in 2017, with “Put It Down” from the native duo Go Freek representing a recent release. We’ve got the remix from fellow Australian Hey Sam as our TOTD.
Hey Sam winds down the brash electro thrills of the original, taking it in a groovier house direction while retaining the warped vocals of the original and amping up its tech house drive.
“The Go Freek boys nailed the original; it’s so unique and awesome,” Hey Sam tells Insomniac. “I was instantly drawn to the vocal parts, and the remix came together relatively quickly using just the vox as the base. Stoked for this to be released on Sweat It Out, a label that I’ve been a big fan of for a long time now.”
