Hood Rich Donates a Shifty, Slow-Burning Dub of “With You”

Things have been quiet from So Solid Records for a cool minute, but the Aussie crew is making its triumphant comeback this week with some brand-new business in tow. Newcomer Quails is handing in her big debut single, “With You,” taken from her forthcoming EP. Before the full package reaches the general public, a few locally brewed lads have taken a stab at her feeling-weak-in-the-knees original.

Hood Rich, who has been depositing a wealth of remixes in recent memory, roughs up the song just enough while retaining its delicate delivery. The dub version sees him filleting the hook and slow-cooking sparse bits of it over a simmering rhythm, working in shifty synth splatters and low-dangling tones to give it all a ballin’-outta-control kick. Be on the lookout for more Hood Rich donations in the future, because they’re always right where they need to be.
