J. Worra Brings Fire to Ice on “Baby’s Corner”

While normally playing the cooler end of the tech house spectrum, L.A.’s J Worra blows a warm stream over the chill of “Baby’s Corner.” Her addition to the massive compilation coming out on Country Club Disco is a simple track built around a solid groove. A machine-locked yet bouncy beat pings and rolls along until a series of quiet synths and samples rise through the mix.

Though met with an equally cold bassline, all of these elements work together to create a bright and shuffling palette that is certainly more inclusionary than robotically isolated. And while the layers morph through increasingly catchy phrases met with engaging punctuations of sound, Worra keeps things to a hushed and lighter-than-air degree. All in all, this track feels like sliding into your favorite jacket after it’s been gently warmed by the fire.
