J. Worra’s Bass-Heavy Earworm “Downtown Diva” Makes Our Hips Wiggle
J. Worra may call sunny L.A. home now, but her underground Chicago roots run deep. Working the chunky end of the house spectrum with a heavy bass touch, Worra’s sound hasn’t been around too long, but it has nevertheless quickly earned props from DJ Mag and Claude VonStroke. Release-wise, she has previously put out tunes on Sweat It Out!, AudioXXL, and Perfect Driver.
Her latest jacking stomper, “Downtown Diva,” is packed with synths that groan, squirm, and squiggle over a wicked, rolling bassline, sassy finger snaps, and pitched-down vocals commanding “bounce for me.” It’s the lead single from her forthcoming EP of the same name, set to drop next month on IN / ROTATION.
“I wrote ‘Downtown Diva’ several weeks after the proposed EP was discussed,” she tells Insomniac. “After my first session on it, I knew it was a perfect reflection of me as an artist: the weird twists and turns, the fun vocals, and a groovy bassline. I am so excited to release this track and EP—it truly showcases my sound, and I’m ready to start making my mark as a house music producer.”
We think she already has.
Available October 3 via IN / ROTATION.
