Kovaxx Comes Through With Rippling Tech Joint “Weeks Gone By”
It’s a beautiful thing when a label goes out on a limb and latches on to an artist before the rest of the world even has a clue. Perfect Driver gave the gas to Kovaxx last year, before the Scottish producer started hitting his stride. He has since become a regular face on the L.A.-based imprint, with his recent appearances on the Perfect Deeper and Miami Drivers compilations demonstrating the lift a producer can get from a little backing. He’s returning to Perfect this week with his next EP in hand, Numbers, which sees him cranking out five spotless tunes.
Featured cut “Weeks Gone By” is the obvious highlight in our minds, and it’s getting its first online play on Insomniac today. “When I started writing ‘Weeks Gone By,’ I had no idea what the track was going to sound like,” Kovaxx tells Insomniac. “I just began laying out some elements using my usual workflow methods. As things started coming together—adding the synth and strings—I thought I’d tailor it for a beach or pool party.” It’s a real rippler of a tune, with outward stretching synth stabs slicing through shuffling drums and the smoothest of vocal samples.
Available July 29 via Perfect Driver.
