Local Heroes Reshape “Ares” Into an Essorant, Uplifting Piece of Trance
It’s not unusual for producers to drum up special edits of their own productions, to either lend their live sets an added edge or tweak the original just enough to take the listener on a back route. If we’re lucky, these low-pro versions will see the light of day after accruing some mileage.
Local Heroes have done just that with “Ares,” which has earned plays from high places—most notably in Armin’s A State of Trance show. A month following its official release on Euphonic, the NYC-based trio have turned their thrusting trancer around with the uplifting mix. A zipping bassline acts as a conveyor belt, ushering in sparkling synth progressions, essorant vocalizations, and cascading keys that will slap a grin on your face before the clock runs out.
