Luca Bear & Giorgia Angiuli “Keep It Magic”
Next up on the Ibiza-based Wow! Recordings is a debut from a newly hatched Italian duo that couples the techno flare of Luca Bear with the magnificent voice and production touch of Giorgia Angiuli. Being dispersed in a couple of weeks, the three-track EP, New Mission, packs a dancefloor-buckling punch. At the end of the set, they present the ultimate closer through “Keep It Magic.” Here, they let out an astonishing assortment of machine-made melodies, a stringent groove and lovely vocal contributions from the lady of the outfit. It’s magical indeed.
Available April 13 via Wow! Recordings.
If you were to describe this EP as a scent, a signature fragrance as it were, what would it be called? If it were to have a tagline, what would it be?
“Melodies Under Skin,” with three ingredients: amber for the mysterious and deep vocals, orange for the fresh and strong groove, and albanum for the hidden analog synths. The EP is composed of three tech house tracks dragged by a hard and fat kick! With the language of perfumery, the groove is the “top note,” perceived immediately upon the first listen, and the scent of this note is fresh and immersive. The melodies and the vocals are always hidden, but they touch the tracks in every moment.
Were you impulsive on this EP, or did you have a sketch in mind before you started?
We made it with an impulsive approach and really fast, without any sketches, because we knew that our style was very different.
What’s the takeaway here? Is there a message or vibe you hope to get across to listeners?
The concept is to try to keep every instant of our life as a magic moment without schemes. When you are able to be free, your life starts to be magic… Music is a fantastic instrument, because it’s able to give us many colors. Sometimes, people think that all the music should be black or white. We tried to put more gradients, so we hope that people will get these feelings of freedom, spontaneity and simplicity.
Have you played this one out in any of your sets? If so, what was the response?
Yes, we did! We played all the tracks, and people loved them.
What’s your favorite sound/synth/effect/etc. used here?
Was really nice to pitch Giorgia’s voice and to mix it with the original feminine voice, and was nice to play the synths without quantization.
