Luke Solomon offers up the second of three EPs leading to his forthcoming full-length, due out at the end of 2015. He puts in work with previous collaborator Nick Maurer (of Greenskeepers fame) on this solid four-tracker, titled Body Movement. It marks the first release of the year for the Classic Music Company imprint, which Solomon cofounded alongside Chicago house legend Derrick Carter.

Bold and built for four-floor greatness, the title cut is the type of acid-tinged mover that only a legend like Luke Solomon could conjure up. Machine-made rhythms and analog accoutrements play support for Maurer’s heavily processed ramblings, while Solomon kicks out a commanding lead to be followed out onto the most distinguished of dancefloors. It’s a trip.

Available February 2 via Classic Music Company.

If you were to describe this track as a scent—a signature fragrance, as it were—what would it be called? If it were to have a tagline, what would it be?
Eau de Rave—“Smells like disco.”

Were you impulsive on this track, or did you have a sketch in mind before you started?
On “Body Movement,” I was driven by a new piece of equipment in the studio that I am keeping a secret. A lot of the time, I have an idea and then set out to produce it. Sometimes things just happen by accident, and that is often the case when you are learning a new piece of equipment. I already had the vocals from Nick, so I remixed the backing track and ended up with wildness!

Was there one particular moment in the recording or mixing process of this track that made you feel as though you were creating something pretty damn special?
Without sounding complete egotistical, I am actually super proud of this beast. There have been a handful of moments where I have walked away from the studio feeling excited. I know that those records may not be received in the same way immediately, but I know that somewhere, somehow, someone will hear it and feel a similar excitement, and that “hope” keeps me enthused.

What’s the takeaway here? Is there a message or vibe you hope to get across to listeners?
Nick and I are on a similar wavelength when it comes to flying a rave flag. Most of our vibe is purely about losing yourself and dancing at the disco, and not adhering to any rules. “Be yourself” is the message… and love—Love is always the message.

Choose one feeling that sums up this release and describe it to us.
Hyper. I love those party record moments that are on the cusp of novelty—it’s a very fine line that can go terribly wrong. I think this record straddles that line but also tests people’s ability to let their hair down and let go. It’s all about energy, hyperactivity and acid… lots of it.
