Matthew Anthony & GAWP’s “Classic” Is a Bass House Bumper
While growing up in suburban Green Bay, Wisconsin, Matthew Anthony was inspired by Chicago house, ‘90s hip-hop, and classic funk. After moving to Los Angeles, he launched his signature label Perfect Driver in 2012 so he could explore his deep-seeded musical influences. Since then, he’s released original tracks hand-crafted for the underground club crowd and influenced by dance artists he loves, like Dirtybird boss Claude VonStroke, Mark Knight, and Jesse Rose.
Here, joining forces with UK-based GAWP, aka Oliver Portamento, Anthony delivers the bass-driven “Classic,” a standout selection from his label’s latest 20-track compilation, Swerve 3, featuring the finest cuts in house, techno, bass and beyond.
“GAWP first came to my attention with a Perfect Driver demo submission called ‘Vanilla Gorilla,’” says Anthony. “I absolutely loved the song but took too long to respond, so BOT ended up signing it to Main Course. I play that tune all the time, so GAWP and I connected on Twitter and then teamed up for ‘Classic.’ We have plans for more making music together in 2017.”
Available December 9 via Perfect Driver.
