Luke May & Paul Sidoli are all about that acid. If you’ve come across their Monday Club project at all, you would be too. The duo is set to drop their Blackout EP on Steve Lawler’s VIVa MUSIC imprint next week, and it’s slammed with three spumescent originals, an a capella, and a rework from Luke Solomon. No need to stick a piece of litmus paper in it; it’s straight acidic.

Seemingly born in a basement and reared in a warehouse, the title track has all the right components to take discerning heads to the finish line. The gents flip the switch with this feverish workout, pairing a jackin’ rhythm with 303-driven lines to get feet busy on the floor. Fizzing with low pH vibes, Monday Club breaks out a tune that could melt the walls and your face in one swing.

The first play of “Blackout” is waiting for you below, so click the tiny triangle to get things moving.

Available March 16 via VIVa MUSIC.

Were you impulsive on this track, or did you have a sketch in mind before you started?
Always impulsive—planning is for businessmen.

Do you think advances in computer technology and gear have affected your creativity?
Yes. First, it made it easier by adding more options. Then it made it harder by adding too many options. We use as much old gear as possible.

Who is the ideal person to remix this track?
Luke Solomon. The results speak for themselves.

What’s the takeaway here? Is there a message or vibe you hope to get across to listeners?
It’s not dark enough…

Creatively, how did the work on this track stack up to previous studio sessions? Was this more challenging to complete than others?
It’s never an easy process; a lot of blood, sweat, smoke and shish kebabs go into everything we do. This one was relatively easy, although it took a while to get the correct mix of menace and sexiness into the 303 line.

What’s your favorite sound/synth/effect/etc. used here?
Moog Minitaur—for the b-lines of the gods.
