Phil Fuldner Sets Up the Solstice With Funky Creeper “Start Me Up”
Phil Fuldner is something of a postmodern renaissance man: singer, model, radio/TV host, DJ and producer. Over the past couple of decades, he’s also given us some big-room house jams with Euro disco, acid house, and Latin music influences on cuts like “The Final,” his cover of “S’Express,” and “Zoana,” to name a few. The German jack-of-all-trades has also appeared on rosters for top-shelf imprints like Toolroom and Get Physical.
His latest cut comes just in time for the solstice. “Start Me Up” is a funky creeper that takes its time building to a break of cascading synth stabs and punchy disco vocal loops. There’s just enough syncopation and lighthearted cheekiness to keep the hips shaking and floors grooving through summer and beyond. The tune is featured on the flipside of Stashbox, Fuldner’s new two-track EP due out next week.
Available June 26 via Mother Recordings.
