Proudly People Gets Down to Business on “Can You Repeat It”

Milan’s captivating duo Proudly People are back with What Is That, an excellent new EP for WOW! Recordings. Among the offerings is the solid, straight-to-work heater “Can You Repeat It.” This is one hefty chunk of tech house that was made to drip sweat on dancefloors. While it’s definitely a deep and low-down thumper with plenty of atmosphere, there is a bounce and funky demeanor that boosts its energy tenfold.

Thick and chunky percussive elements pump away with a hypnotizing groove. Met and matched by plenty of warm, familiar throwback samples and stabs, these elements are held aloft by a bassline that could light up any room. The signature focal points, however, are the gently manipulated vocal samples that give an organic breath to the dynamic, which rounds the entire production out. Proudly People have crafted a simply solid, hard-hitting tune that is both lively and deep enough to get the party going.
