Re.You Taps Into Golden-Hour Tones With Lambent Tech Cut “Try to Sleep”

Back when we first caught wind that Terranova and Stereo MCs were looking to launch their own label, connected, our heads were spinning from the mere thought of the release schedule they would soon line up. Already six releases strong, and our high expectations have not been let down. Re.You shows up with his second appearance on the imprint, with They Vibed drawing from the same forward-facing headspace the rising Berlin artist is justifiably associated with.

The spoken-word phrases of South African poet Lazarusman are strategically stacked atop the rolling textures strewn across the title cut, making it a genuinely gripping groove. But it’s on the flip, “Try to Sleep,” where Re.You plays with the peculiar. Lambent synth lines softly swirl around insistent hats and hushed vocals, which are grounded by an earthy percussive flow. The tune has all the right makings to be shown a lot of love during those golden-hour moments.
