Salaryman Hits Us Where It Hurts With “Your Love Lifts Me Up”
One of the drum & bass scene’s most underrated stalwarts, the Marseille-based artist known as Salaryman is a true force of nature for those who know. A deadly combination of studio skills and a desire to push the boundaries of his own sound with each and every outing, Salaryman is one of those rare artists who’s able to smash it out just as well as he’s able to transport the dancefloor to an ethereal soundscape.
Speaking of which, his latest for the RAM family, “Your Love Lifts Me Up,” delivers an epic exploration of the deeper side of the dancefloor with an exquisitely produced heartbreaker. An exotic guitar, retro synths, haunting female vocal, and sweeping atmospheres lay the groundwork for a perfect, break-driven summer groove that hits us where it hurts and promises to be on heavy rotation long after the summer of 2017 is nothing but a memory.
“I feel, personally, that this tune probably reflects the most my trip-hop side,” Salaryman tells Insomniac. “I’m fond of mellow and melancholic atmospheres developed in tunes of such artists as DJ Krush, Bonobo, and the Herbaliser (and maybe even Pink Floyd, I guess). That’s the kind of atmosphere I aimed to blend with liquid drum & bass, and so ‘Your Love Lifts Me Up’ sees the light of day.”
