The Mekanism Brings Dark Velvet Vibes to CJ Jeff’s “Freak Out”

Greek superstar CJ Jeff is set to drop a fiery hot new track, “Freak Out,” via Anthony Attalla’s Incorrect Music next week. But as these things tend to go, no banger is complete without solid remix duties. This round goes to French powerhouse the Mekanism, who upped the action even higher.

Coming in with a solid beat that leans into tech house territory, cold samples soon drop through the mix to build up a groove. But it’s not until the rich bassline pumps in that this remix grabs the listener, refusing vehemently to let them go. This is a stripped-down, basement-leaning house banger that holds more sweat-inducing energy than it lets on. The rhythms stay locked in, peppered with bursts of sound here and there to keep the torch glowing. Beyond that, there are enough laid-back rises and drops to keep a crowd on their toes. It’s a solid addition to what is sure to be an unbeatable round up of tunes.
