Bass heads know fully well it doesn’t get any more on-point than the Prototypes, with the prolific duo possessing one of the most dependable discogs drum & bass has ever seen. The anthems don’t lie, and for the past six years, they’ve slipped a steady stream of them under the doors of illustrious labels like Shogun and Viper Recordings. But with the deployment of their newest face-squishing bit, “Rocket Guns Blazin’,” the trend-defying pair are ready to embark on a new era where they’re the ones with the final say on exactly which of their records reach the ears of their cult following. It’s the inaugural release of their freshly formed Get Hype Records, and the first of many woofer-wreckers set to surface on the entirely free imprint (all they ask in return is a one-time mailing list subscription and then it’s like having one of the dankest D&B tunes deposited directly into your inbox). The first of which finds the Prototypes carpet-bombing the area with whirring missile synths, pummeling percussion, and sonic oddities that further prove these guys aren’t ones to mess with.
