Vanilla Ace Pulls Clomping Cut “Down With It” From His Sleeve
Vanilla Ace and Sharam Jey go way back, and they’ve got a number of joint productions over the years to show for it. It’s not much of a shocker, then, that Jey would open up his v hip imprint, Bunny Tiger, to drop Ace’s newest EP. Night Steppin contains four deep nu-disco-diving cuts, each pacing around the various hues of house music he’s been known to own.
He comes at “Down With It” with extreme concern for the club, providing the featured jam with the right makeup to get floors going. “Really excited for everyone to hear my new Bunny Tiger four-track EP,” Ace tells Insomniac. “Each track defiantly represents me and the various styles I like to make. ‘Down With It’ is the deep tech-house cut out of the four, featuring some great percussion and spooky synths.” A panning vocal hook swings in and out, suspended atop a grid of clomping basslines and mean-mugging stabs.
If the big-boy EP wasn’t enough, Vanilla Ace has lined up an eight-date run in North America, hitting up major cities throughout August, including Dallas, Chicago, Detroit and Palm Springs. Get on it.
Available August 8 via Bunny Tiger.
