Victor Ruiz Reveals the Dark Beauty That Lies in “The Eye of the Beholder”
Brazil’s Victor Ruiz has reached a tipping point this year after a steady stream of solid releases on labels like Sudbeat, Suara, and beyond. Slowly but surely, he’s established himself as a producer to watch. He scored his biggest hit to date earlier this year with his dramatic remix of Olivier Biacomotto’s “Bipolar Star” for the Noir Music label. It inspired them to invite him back for his Eye of the Beholder EP, which we’re excited to preview prior to its release on Friday.
“This is a very personal release,” Ruiz says of his new three-track EP. “I recorded these tracks over the last two years, and it’s funny how they complete each other. It’s a very unique piece of art, and I’m really excited for everyone to listen.”
Today we’re offering up the title cut, “Eye of the Beholder,” a pounding slice of main-room techno that’s as brooding as it is driving, and as dramatic as it is dark. Join Ruiz as he takes us on an eight-minute journey, starting in a stripped-back warehouse mode before it eventually lets its explosive melodies unfold. Put this one aside for the peak-time.
Available July 13 via Noir Music.
